Winter Reading Challenge

Winter Reading Challenge, January 9 - Feb 23
Winter is the perfect time to stay at home to read and participate in the Library’s Winter Reading Challenge.

All ages are invited to participate in the Winter Reading Challenge from January 9 until February 28.

Bingo sheets for all ages are available at any Library service desk and online at barbertonlibrary.beanstack.org. Complete five activities (or read!) to make a bingo!

Children who earn a bingo will earn a prize available for pick up at the Library, and kids who complete their entire card will earn an entry into the grand prize drawing.

Teens and Adults who earn a bingo will receive an entry into the grand prize drawing and their completed bingo cards are worth an additional entry!

New this year: keep track of your progress on the Beanstack Tracker app. Download the free app on your favorite device and keep track of your bingo card in the app!

Chair Yoga, Dec 13 and 27

Have a seat at noon on February 14th and 28th and improve your flexibility by participating in a free chair yoga class. This gentle program will be led by Colleen Hohl, a 200-hour certified yoga instructor from the Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina.

Self Defense for Women

The Intersectin of Medicaid, estate planning and probate jan 11 at 6

Join us for a free, two-hour self-defense class for women hosted by the Summit County Prosecutor's Office. This class, on Thursday, February 2 at 6:00 p.m., will cover simple verbal and physical techniques women can use to avoid becoming a victim of crime. Participants will have the chance to practice the techniques they learn in class. Registration is not required for this free course.

Get to Class!

These days an email address is required for just about everything, from education to job searching and everyone needs an email address. This class will show you how to use the popular free email service, Gmail. We'll help you get set up with an email that you can access from anywhere with an internet connection. We'll show you how to check email, reply, forward, and send attachments. Library-provided laptop computers will be used in a classroom environment to teach you all that you need to know about Gmail. Sing Along Fun!

Attend a fun family-friendly performance by the Rubber City Ukes at the Barberton Public Library on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Located in Akron, Ohio, the Rubber City Ukes are ukulele players of all ages and skill levels, who gain experience and performance skills in a group setting. The Rubber City Ukes perform a variety of songs in a fun, sing-along format.

Staying Safe from Scams

Many of us deal with scam calls and emails daily. Are you able to tell the difference between a legitimate email or phone call and a scam? Join expert Kyle Jekot on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m. as he walks through real-life examples, explained in non-technical terms, that can help safeguard you and your information. Kyle is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Security Expert who has spent most of his professional career in investigations, fraud prevention, detection, and federal law enforcement intelligence. Genealogy Club

The Genealogy Club meets on Tuesday, February 14th at 10:30 a.m. in the historic Board Room. All experience levels are welcome. The meetings often include a short program followed by a discussion and sharing of ideas, resources, and advice. Registration is required.
