On April 8, 2024, Wayne County will experience a total solar eclipse!

Get ready for the eclipse by attending an upcoming library program. We have speakers lined up from the Hoover-Price Planetaruim, Canton Museum of Art, the Nature Center, Whiz Bang Science, and more! Learn about this upcoming rare and spectacular event, including how to view it safely.  
 
All locations of the Wayne County Public Library will be distributing eclipse glasses beginning on Friday, March 1.

 Eclipse glasses will be available on a first come first served basis with a limit of two pairs per family.

Join Hoover-Price Planetarium Director, Suzie Dills, to learn the science behind eclipses, the timeline for the April 8th event, how to safely view the eclipse, and how past civilizations viewed solar eclipses. Registration is required. 

Sun and Moon Eclipse with Polymer Clay 

West Salem
Thursday, March 14
at 6 PM 

Join Amanda from the Canton Museum of Art as we make a sun and moon eclipse with polymer clay. Materials will be provided. Registration for adults is required.

Join us for a Saturday afternoon of tea, snacks, and a craft. Wear your tea party finest. Registration is required. For children 5 years old and up, accompanied by an adult.

Countdown to the Eclipse

from 2 – 6:30 PM 

Join us for several Eclipse-themed crafts and activities. There will be clay sculptures, photo-paper creations, paintings, and more. See what we have dreamed up! All ages are welcome.

Come in and learn about the upcoming solar eclipse, make a craft, and have some fun. Registration is required.

Solar Eclipse 2024 with The Nature Center 

Wooster
Tuesday, April 2
at 6 PM 

On April 8th, 2024, Northeast Ohio will be treated to a Total Solar Eclipse. The moon will completely block out the sun for a few minutes and plunge the sky into a kind of twilight. Robin Gill from the Nature Center will help you understand the eclipse, demonstrate how to view it safely, and answer your questions. Registration for adults is required.

Total Eclipse of the Sun Science Saturday 

Doylestown
Saturday, April 6
from 11 AM – 1 PM 

A total eclipse of the sun will take place right here in Doylestown on April 8. Let’s take a couple of hours to learn about the sun, the moon, and the eclipse with hands-on activities. We will also make eclipse T-shirts; bring a T-shirt if you would like to make one. Registration for children of all ages is required.

Eclipse Excitement

Saturday, April 6
from 11 AM – 1 PM 

Join us for some fun eclipse-themed crafts. We will make our own eclipse timeline with cookies, sunlight activated bracelets, and take still-life pictures using the sun’s rays. Snacks and supplies provided. Registration is required.

The Great American Eclipse Show by Whiz Bang Science 

Wooster
Saturday, April 6
from 11 AM – 12 PM 

Whiz Bang Science is here to help you prepare for the total solar eclipse on April 8th! Learn about the nature and history of eclipses, but even more importantly what to look, listen, and feel for during the eclipse, and how to safely observe the eclipse. Registration for families and children of all ages begins March 11.

from 1 – 3:30 PM 

Join us at the library for eclipse crafts and snacks as we get ready for the big event. Dress according to the weather and we will go outside to view the total eclipse together. Registration for all ages is required.

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IN RITTMAN!  

Rittman
Monday, April 8 at 2:30 PM
 
Weather permitting, we will venture into the courtyard to safely view the eclipse. Jim Trogdon and Harvey Landis, Field Station Managers, Morton Salt Environmental Education Lab, and Christine Lorence, STEM teacher, Coventry Schools, will present on the science of the eclipse. Special viewing glasses will be provided. Registration is required for grades 4-12.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party 

Wooster
Monday, April 8 from 2 – 3:30 PM 

Come on down to the Wooster library to watch the 2024 total solar eclipse! We will have activities in the Conference Room and a limited supply of eclipse glasses on hand. Everything will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For all ages, in the Conference Room. 
The partial eclipse begins around 2PM, reaching totality from 3:13-3:17 PM.
